Local Attractions in Sharjah

Al Qasba:

Ramadaniat Al Qasba:

Watch poetry recitals by Munshid al Sharjah and also do not forget to visit Al Eman Oasis which is an Islamic lecture tent open to visitors of all religions and faiths. Eye of the Emirates:

A visit to Sharjah is incomplete without riding on the "Eye of the Emirates". It is a giant wheel that offers an aerial view of Sharjah corniche, lagoons and landscape as well as the horizons of the neighbouring Dubai. This attraction has 42 air-conditioned cabins that go 60 meters high over Sharjah. It is capable of carrying 336 passengers at a time.

Arabian Wildlife Centre:

The centre is located about 26 kms from the city centre, next to Sharjah International Airport. The centre was opened in September 1999. It has over 100 species kept in a safe, spacious and natural surrounding. Watch the diversity of the fauna found in the peninsula and the species that are becoming extinct. This attracts many tourists who can easily visit the centre on the way to or back from the airport.

Souqs:

In Sharjah, many Souqs are situated on and behind the famous Corniche Road. Watch a variety of shops at the Blue Souq, Souq Al Arsah, Iranian Bazaar and Al Majarrah Souk. The tour of the Souq offers a great chance to study the ethnic culture of an Arabian market.

Sharjah Stadium:

The Sharjah Cricket Association Stadium was originally constructed in 1980 and further renovated in 2002. It can accommodate 27,000 people at a time and provides powerful floodlights. Sharjah ground was the venue for 198 One Day international cricket matches. This ground is very popular in the South Asian population of the United Arab Emirates.

The Sharjah Art Museum:

In 1995, Art Directorate of the Department of Culture & Information founded Sharjah Art Museum under the guidance of HH Dr. Sheikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qassimi, the Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah. Located in Bait Al Serkal, Al Shuwaihiyeen area, it was inaugurated on April 9, 1997. The museum is provided with the facilities of an international art museum standards. This two storied building is spread over 111,000 sq. meters. This attraction showcases the permanent collection of artworks on the ground floor. Several solo and group exhibitions and related activities are also organized at the venue.

Expo Centre:

The Expo Centre of Sharjah was founded in 1977 by Frederick Pittera, a producer of International Fairs and Exhibitions. This attraction is a fantastic landscaped architecture famous for its annual book fair. The Expo centre hosts several international exhibitions, conferences and events. The Emir of Sharjah personally takes interest in annual book fair event and hundreds of publishers from all over the world come here to join this event.
